My program › After week 12
Keeping it. The actual product.
Most weight-loss programs end at the after-photo. The weight comes back because nobody taught the next part. Here, maintenance is the program.
The program
This part is for people who have the program.
Bought it? Open it with the email you used at checkout. Have a code from a welcome email, or from Dr. Allred? Type it here.
Not yet? The setup, the challenges and your protein number are free. The program is $50, once. What is in it.
Week 12: read the change, then choose
Redo every Day 0 measure under the same conditions and read them side by side. Ninety days is enough for real change, rarely enough for finished change. Then choose: another 12-week round, after two weeks at maintenance first, or Maintenance for good. Either is a win. At this stage, keeping is gaining.
Maintenance
- Find your true maintenance: step intake up gradually until the weekly average holds for a few weeks. That number is yours now.
- Tracking relaxes. The scale habit stays, weekly. The waist, monthly.
- The 3-pound rule, automatic and shame-free: if the weekly average sits 3 or more pounds above your settled weight for two weeks, food logging comes back for four weeks. No drama, no starting over.
- Protein, the plate, lifting, steps and sleep are permanent. They are why the weight stays off and the muscle stays on.
- Most programs end at the after-photo and the weight comes back because nobody taught the next part. Here, maintenance is the program.
What the long-term keepers do
The best data on people who kept 30 or more pounds off for years: most eat breakfast, weigh themselves at least weekly, move about an hour a day, and eat the same way on weekends as weekdays [96]. Metabolism does slow a little after weight loss, about 50 to 100 calories a day once weight settles; it is not broken, and appetite is the real obstacle [20]. Habits take a median of about 66 days to become automatic, and missing a day does not derail them [93].
When life happens
- Missed up to a week: resume where you left off. Nothing is lost.
- Missed two or three weeks: run the week you were on again, and one honest week of logging.
- A month or more: restart at week 1 with your numbers. Breakfast first. It comes back faster the second time.
- Sick or run down: protein and sleep. The rest waits.
What progress looks like from here
A weight that holds while birthdays accumulate, a waist that does not drift, lifts that stay heavy, a sit-to-stand count that holds, and getting off the floor without using your hands at 75. This phase has no finish line, and that is the feature.
